CSW Update!

Good Afternoon!
Catholic Schools Week has been wonderful so far!
Tomorrow is a regular gym uniform day and students may
bring in donations for Roxbury Social Services (canned
food, toiletries, etc.). We will be having an Open House in
the morning from 9:00-11:00 and then in the afternoon we
will be visiting the Wax Museum in the big school presented
by 3rd-5th grade.

Yesterday we sent a few important papers home. The
first is a letter about our upcoming Pen Pal Program. I am
SO excited that this year we are going to have Kindergarten
Pen Pals who are in my sister’s class in Arizona. Our students
will be writing letters to each other a few times a month,
talking about their favorite colors, holidays we celebrate,
weather patterns, etc. and we are very excited to get
started. We will only be using our first names and will not
be sending any personal information, just that we are in
Kindergarten in NJ. If you have any questions about this
program, please let me know. :)

The second letter that went home is about our upcoming
100th Day Mystery project. It is crazy that we are only 11
school days away from the 100th day already! Students are
asked to each make a special project using “100” items. They
can make anything they wish, as long as it represents 100.
Since it is a mystery project, please do not send in any
finished projects until the actual 100th day, which for our
class is Wednesday, Feb. 12th. If you have any questions
about this project, please let me know.

Here are this week’s themes/concepts:

Happy Catholic Schools Week!

Good Morning & Happy Catholic Schools Week!

It was such a pleasure meeting with you all this week for conferences to discuss your amazing
children. It is so hard to believe we are already half way through Kindergarten, the time needs to
slow down! This week is a very special week for our school as we are celebrating Catholic Schools
Week and each day is a different theme we'll be focusing on. Please take note of the following
schedule below to see what each day entails, as we will be having 3 TAG Days this week for students
to dress down! :)

Monday-  Celebrate the Community! Students are asked to wear BLUE on Monday to honor and
show respect for our police officers. Our $1 donations for this TAG Day will go to the family of
Detective Joseph Seals from Jersey City.

Tuesday- Celebrate the Students!- Students are asked to wear their NEW STS Catholic Schools
Week shirt to school and may dress down with any pants/shoes they wish. No monetary donations
are needed this day, but students MUST wear this STS shirt in order to dress down this day. We will
be celebrating the students in the afternoon by having a super fun Buddy Bingo game in the big school!

Wednesday- Celebrate Vocations- Students are asked to wear their normal gym uniform this day,
as we will be having Open House in the morning from 9:00-11:00, followed by a lunch to honor our
wonderful priests & deacon. In the afternoon we will be visiting the Wax Museum, presented by
Grades 3-5 in the big school.

Thursday- Celebrate our Country!- Students are asked to wear Red, White & Blue to show pride for
our country! Our $1 donations this day will go towards the Wounded Warrior Foundation. In the
afternoon we will be watching the Annual Volleyball game in the gym, as we cheer on our buddies and
teachers/parents.

Friday- Celebrate our Faculty, Staff & Volunteers- Students are asked to wear their regular school
uniform this day, as we will be attending Mass at 11:00 to honor all the faculty, staff and volunteers who
make STS the best place to be! :)

Side note- reading folders and book baggies will resume tomorrow, and I will send our weekly update
tomorrow afternoon regarding our themes/concepts of the week ahead.

Thank you for your time, I am greatly looking forward to celebrating this week with our class.
Sincerely,

Week of January 6th

Good Afternoon!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We are off to a tremendous start to our first week back in the New Year! We have many exciting objectives beginning this week and a lot to look forward to ahead.

Important Info For the Week Ahead:
1) Reading Folders went home today with all new work for January. You will find the monthly assignments as well as our new weekly additions. We have begun using our “Book Baggies” as part of our guided reading program. Please see the attached letter and be sure to send in your child’s “Book Baggie” to school each day in their Reading Folder. For this week, we will be transitioning into our groups slowly, so we may keep the books the same for a few rounds before sending home a new book. It is still important for students to read them to build their skills and confidence. :) The books will grow in difficulty as we progress throughout the rest of the year.

2) Little Gym Registration Forms for the next session went home today. If you are interested in signing your child up for the class, please return the form back to school.

3) This Friday January 10th is our next TAG Day to help the 8th grade. The theme this month is “Superhero Day”. Students may dress down in Superhero themed attire if they bring their $1 donation.

4) Kindergarten Conferences will be held January 21st & 22nd. A letter will be sent home this week detailing your scheduled time and date. After receiving your letter, if you need to reschedule for any reason we can work out a better date/time that fits your needs.
