Good Afternoon Everyone,
I hope you all had a great weekend. It is so wonderful being back in person
with our amazing class, today was an excellent day. It is so hard to believe
that we only have 28 school days left of Kindergarten! :(
We have so much exciting news to share! I am sorry it is a bit lengthy
but please read below for some important upcoming info:
1) We sent home our Reading Folders today with both the new monthly work
AND the weekly homework, including new spelling & reading. Please note for
our monthly assignments, this will be our LAST READO board & reading log
(it is 2-sided) and it is not due back until June 11th. Weekly homework is
due back this Friday.
2) In our homework folders you will find a bright pink calendar on the
“return to school” side. Please take out this calendar & hang it up
somewhere you can see it each day. This is our “Final Countdown”, which is
our 26 days full of special themes and activities that correlate to a letter
of the alphabet. Please reference this each day so you can see what may be
needed from home, I will always send a reminder as well. This begins on
Wednesday with our Animal Action Day! :)
3) This Friday is our next TAG Day to raise money for our 8th grade class,
the theme is class competitions, and our Kindergarten theme is going to be
“CAMPING/OUTDOOR attire” which will tie into our Final Countdown Day as
well! Please have your child dressed like they are going to be camping,
hiking, spending time outdoors, etc. They may wear/bring accessories
(fishing hat, boots, hats, sunglasses, etc.) as well. The winning class earns a
free snack from our school snack shop! :)
4) Tomorrow our class will have a Show & Tell for filling up the Kindness
Chart yet again. Students may bring any ONE item they would like, as long
as it is not fragile and can be easily transported.
5) Throughout the week we are going to be sending home a lot of completed
and graded work that we have had here in the classroom. We will send it in
the “keep at home” side of the homework folders. Please try to empty this
side of your child’s folder every day, so it doesn’t build up too much. Thank
you!
6) Last but not least, since we are unfortunately unable to have a spring
“field trip” this year, I have come up with a creative alternative and planned
a SUPER FUN and complete SURPRISE in-house event for our class. On
Friday, May 28th we will be having a “Magic Treehouse Travelers Day”
where students will “travel” around the world with Jack & Annie throughout
four different locations.
We will have a variety of themed hands-on games and activities at each
station, a special themed snack, and reward/prizes at the end. We will also
be surprising them with a visit from the ice cream truck/Kona Ice to
conclude the event. I am planning to make this a HUGE event so it can be
very memorable, engaging, and fun, as well as educational since we will learn
about the different areas of the world on our travels!
However, seeing as this is such a big event, I am kindly requesting some
assistance. We are asking if each family could please donate $10 to help go
towards purchasing everything that is needed, we would greatly appreciate
it.
Also, I have enlisted the help of four wonderful moms, Mrs. Mulvihill, Mrs.
Parks, Mrs. Gordon, and Mrs. Grey who will be assisting us as well. We will
also be in need of a few additional parent volunteers who could help us that
morning, it would be from at least 8:30-11:30, and/or help us with prepping
materials for each station.
I will be putting together a Sign Up Genius tonight that I will share with you
all in case anyone is interested in helping out with this event, either as a
volunteer in person or someone who can help behind the scenes to prepare.
Thank you so much in advance for your support, I am so excited for this and
I know the children will love it!
