Good Afternoon & Happy Monday,
I hope you all had a very nice weekend! I cannot believe we are quickly approaching the end of October already. We have a few exciting things coming up that I would like to make you aware of.

1) Today students will be taking home their “ABC Bootcamp Vests” and a detailed letter explaining what to do. They are due back to school on Tuesday November 6th.  Please help your child decorate their vest with words that start with the letter they were assigned. Our Fashion Show will be on Thursday November 8th and we will be recording the show and posting on Class Dojo so everyone can see.  : )

2) Our Halloween Parade will begin at 1:00 pm in the big school parking lot on Wednesday. Students are allowed to come to school in their costumes on Wednesday, however it is still a gym day and we do have recess so please make sure they wear shoes they can run/play in. We will be having a small party in our classroom following the parade and all families are invited to attend.

3) October Reading Homework (READO Boards & Reading Logs) are due on Thursday. Please send in your child’s reading folder with the completed homework. November’s reading homework will be sent home on Monday November 5th.

4) We will be attending the 8:30 mass on Thursday for All Souls Day and the 11:00 mass on Friday for First Friday Mass.

5) We do have library this Thursday so please be sure to return any library books your child borrowed two weeks ago.

6) Winter Uniforms begin on Thursday- please see the STS website if you need description for the winter uniforms.

7) November Pizza Money is due this Friday.

8) There is no school on Friday November 9th.

Week of October 9th

Good Afternoon Wonderful Families!

We had a fantastic start to a great week ahead! Tomorrow is our field trip to Tranquility Farms- a very important reminder letter went home today in homework folders. If you did not receive this reminder, I have posted it below at the end of this message as well. We will NOT be having bootcamp tomorrow, letter J will be on Thursday.

A letter about our Halloween party also went home today. We are requesting that each family please donate one small package of at least 20 prizes for our class goody bags. Our room moms will be compiling the prizes for us and we are asking for all donations to be in by Friday October 26th. Thanks so much!

Mr. Dunnigan has asked me to mention to you all that unfortunately there has been several cases of Fifth’s Disease going around in our class. The nurse was out today but there will be a more detailed letter from her going home this week. We have been working very hard on keeping the classroom clean, washing our hands/using hand sanitizer, not putting things in our mouth and properly covering our mouths when we cough or sneeze. Unfortunately germs like this are stubborn and spread so quickly no matter how hard we try. If your child is showing any symptoms (a major sign is fever but not every child will have a fever) please keep them home until they are cleared by the doctor. Once they develop a rash, they are no longer contagious and are allowed to return to school.

On Thursday we will be having our STS Walk-A-Thon in the morning at 9:00 am.

This week we will not be adding any new popcorn words since we have a short week and our field trip this week.

We will be reviewing the 9 words we have learned thus far.

Here are our themes & concepts of the week:
1) Reading/Language Arts/Phonics:
- Letters (Bootcamp)- I, J, K
-Sight Words- blue, to, is
-Color Word- blue
-Reading Comprehension Skill- Characters

2) Mathematics:
-Number Sense 0-20
- Identifying, writing, and counting numbers 0-20
-Making and identifying groups

3) Religion:
-Honoring St. Therese & Mother Mary
-God Provides for all we need
-Daily Prayers

4)Social Studies:
- Citizenship Unit

5) Science:
- Life Cycles
-Germs & Staying Healthy

Here is a copy of the field trip reminder:
The K & 1st Grade classes are attending our field trip to Tranquility Farms tomorrow, Wednesday October 10th.
Drop-off time is the same as a normal day for students.
Chaperones must be in the 1st Grade classroom by 8:45 am and park in either the Learning Center or Church parking lots. We will leave school at 9:00 am and will return to school by 2:00 pm.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable trip, please remind your child that during this trip they must:
-obey instructions of teachers, parents, supervisors, and bus drivers
- remain with his/her assigned group
-wear complete gym uniform (sneakers, sweatshirt, sweatpants/shorts, STS gym shirt)
-bring a brown bag lunch, including snacks and drinks, clearly marked with their name (NO GLASS PLEASE)
-Chaperones may purchase lunch at the farm if they please.
-Children may bring money for the ice cream & farm shop, but it must be in a sealed envelope with their name clearly marked so their chaperones may hold on to it until it is time to shop.
Thank you for your time, have a wonderful week!
Love & Prayers,
Mrs. Tironi
