Week of 10/25/21




Hello & Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I am so excited for this

fantastic week of learning & Halloween fun ahead! 


Here is some information for this week:

1) Reading folders with our new material went home today.

Please note they are stapled AND double-sided in an effort

to save paper. This is due back on Friday morning. :)


2) Our class will be having a Halloween celebration on Friday.

All students are welcome to wear their costumes to school but

please note school policy states no weapons may be brought in.

Our Halloween Parade will take place at 1:30 pm in the big school

parking lot, it will be rain or shine. All families are welcome to

attend the parade. If you plan on bringing your child home with

you after the parade, please send me a note or send a dojo so

we can mark dismissal accordingly.


3) We had a slight mix-up with sweatshirts at the end of the day

today, and we are missing a student’s labeled sweatshirt. If you

could, please double check your child’s GRAY STS zip-up sweatshirt

for a name. If it is not yours, please send it in tomorrow so we can

sort them out. Thank you! 


Here are our themes/concepts for the week:

1) Reading/Language Arts/Phonics:

  • Taking END of Bootcamp Assessments

  • Phonic Skill: Applying letter sounds to form 3 letter words (CVC)

  • Sight Words: can, you, look, up, is

  • Reading Skill: sequence & character

  • Writer’s Workshop- Making a simple sentence 


2) Mathematics:

  • Teen Numbers 

  • Place Value (ones & tens) 

 

3) Religion:

  • Praying the Rosary

  • God Gives us Animals 


4) Social Studies:

  • Fire Safety & Prevention Continued

  • Preparing for Election Day- Intro to our America Unit! 


5) Science:

-Bat Science- Comparing & Contrasting

Week of October 18th



Good Afternoon!

I hope this message finds you all well and enjoying this beautiful day.

Thank you all so much for joining us yesterday at the farm, it was such an

AMAZING day making memories with our class. We had an excellent day

together, thank you for helping us raise money for a former STS family in

need.

Here is some information about the week ahead:

1) Reading Folders went home today with this week’s materials and our

new popcorn words of the week. Please return these folders and the

completed work on Friday. 


2) ABC Bootcamp Fashion Show is this Friday! Please send in finished

Vest projects no later than Thursday. I cannot wait to see all the

creative and amazing designs this class comes up with for their letters. 


3) Trunk or Treat flyers went home today for next Friday evening’s

event. If you are interested in attending and/or decorating your

trunk, they do ask for the registration form to be sent in

by this Friday. 


4) Friday is our next TAG day to fundraise for our 8th grade

buddies. The theme is to wear Halloween Colors (not costumes please). 


5) Halloween goodie bag favors are asked to be sent in by next

Monday. We will send information about our Halloween celebration

by the end of this week. 


6) All families who ordered from Scholastic during our September

orders, I am sorry to say the orders are still delayed and have not

yet arrived.  As soon as they do come in, or I get more information

about them, I will let you know.

Week of October 12th

 


Good Afternoon!

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend. I missed our class and am

excited for another fantastic week ahead.


Here is some important information for our weeks ahead:

1) I am hoping to be able to officially confirm by tomorrow our field trip to

Tranquility Farms for next Monday, October 18th. I will send home a flyer

and a dojo once I can officially confirm this for everyone. 



2) We are beginning to prepare for our class Halloween party and are asking

for families, if possible, to please donate one package of Halloween/Fall party

favors that we can use to make goody bags for all of our class. We truly

appreciate your support and ask if donations can be sent in no later than

Monday, October 25th. 


3)  Reading Folders are going home today with this week’s practice activities.

I also have updated our class ABCmouse accounts and Raz Kids so it should

(hopefully) now be working for all students. Please let me know if you have any

issues while using these at home. Also, September Reading Certificates are

going home today with a Free Frosty coupons they earned. 


4) ABC Bootcamp Fashion Show will be next week and our vest projects

are due next Wednesday, 10/20.


5) Please consider supporting our 8th grade class during their Meatball

Madness Project Graduation Fundraiser this Saturday! It is one of their

biggest fundraisers!  Due to COVID, pre-orders are required. It is curbside

pickup and food is provided by Anthony Francos.  Accepting orders through

tomorrow.

6) Next week on Tuesday, October 19th we will be having a special TAG Day

to raise money for a wonderful former STS family who could use our help. I

will send home the flyer this week. 

 

7) Next Friday, October 22nd is our next TAG Day to benefit our 8th grade

class. The theme will be Halloween Colors (not costumes).

Thursday, 10/07



 Hello Everyone! 

We had such a wonderful week which ended with a fun-filled science adventure day where we  were exploring and learning about pumpkins! :) 

A few quick notes about our weeks ahead:

1) If you haven't already RSVP-ed for our potential Fall Farm Field Trip to Tranquility Farms on Monday 10/18 please try to do so ASAP. I need to have confirmation to the farm as soon as possible. Please note, if we cannot guarantee 100% availability for all our class, we unfortunately cannot have the trip as we do not have the busing transportation at this time. 2) Today we sent home our ABC Bootcamp Fashion Show vests with your child's assigned alphabet letter & a detailed letter explaining the project. They are not due until Wednesday 10/20. We cannot wait to see how the children design them! :)
